The brown wool coatThe wool coat that works over everything

Long, chocolate brown and a little too big. The only coat decision that really matters.

A brown wool coat doesn't go with an outfit. It replaces the need for one. Picture a long wrap coat in chocolate wool, belted loosely, sleeves pushed up so a bit of white cuff peeks out.

Brown is the quiet trick. It's softer than black, warmer than camel, and somehow it makes everything underneath look more expensive, from a grey sweatshirt to your best trousers. Add a worn leather shoulder bag and a couple of rings and you're done.

If you're choosing one, size for a chunky jumper underneath. That's the real test of a winter coat.
